When they were younger, twin brothers Chris and Kevin Barrett were friends. But then something terrible happened. Their father, State Police Sergeant David Barrett mysteriously vanished while he investigated five brutal murders. One son believed in his father, the other did not, and something else happened which ended their friendship and changed both of them forever. Mankind tampered with nature and the results were disastrous.

Bostonians knew themselves and one another, family members understood and played their roles, and friends and lovers showed loyalty and respected boundaries. But when nature sought revenge for its disruption, it brought a time of civil unrest, disorder and imbalance to the city.

Three years later, Kevin Barrett hangs with a very dark crowd. Sergeant David Barrett is still missing. And Chris Barrett heads to Philadelphia, where a college football scholarship and the girl of his dreams await him. Chris is trying to hold his relationship together and keep his demons at bay – demons which show him unthinkable acts.

When Chris finds a mysterious recording left by his father, he is short on trust. He asks Philadelphia Detective, Walter Smith for help. Smith has a lot on his plate and he’s slow to help. His personal life unraveling, Chris must revisit a world he thought he’d left behind, to confront both the madness of the present and the nightmares of his father’s past. Walter Smith brings conflict to Chris when he targets him in a whole new investigation -- one in which Chris is accused of rape. When Chris discovers Walter Smith isn’t who he claims to be, he questions Smith’s possible involvement in his father’s disappearance. Chris is aware of his own danger and that of his girlfriend, Tiffany Sotheby. Tiffany escapes first -- she seeks refuge with her grandmother in Chicago, and Chris isn't far behind.

Chris meets an interesting old man in Chicago -- one with a whole new outlook on the justice system. With nothing left to lose, Chris considers the idea of an old-school approach to settling scores back in Boston. When Chris and Tiffany return to the city, they realize someone has already taken care of business for them. But then Chris runs into his estranged twin, Kevin and a whole new danger presents itself -- one which forces Chris and Tiffany to flee the city again. Unsure about where to go, they consider a narrow escape back to the Windy City where they left at least one mystery unsolved. At this point, both Chris and Tiffany are certain of only two things; they are madly in love, and there exists no savagery like nature's reckoning.

A fast-paced, tense and unnerving paranormal mystery, Dirty Water is also an epic novel of love and loyalty, faith and family, in which people irrevocably scarred by the past find themselves colliding with nature and with their own hidden, darkest selves.

First in The Vampire Vendetta Series

Labor Day weekend is a bittersweet time on Cape Cod. While tourists wrap up summer vacations and prepare for departure, locals dwell on the approach of another dark winter.
In 1992, the holiday weekend was noted as one of the Cape's darkest times in history. Five people were reported missing in those three days, and a serial killer was feared on the loose. While his energy rapidly diminished, ailing Massachusetts state trooper, Brian Deutsch scrambled for clues. After expert investigatory help from Washington, DC arrived, five brutal crime scenes were recreated, and the need for answers grew even more imminent.
Was a clash between residents and a newly-settled cult to blame for these horrific acts? Or, was something much darker threatening Cape Cod?

Growing Up with Alcohol

Jason and Emily were not crazy about their mother’s new boyfriend. In the three years since she divorced their father, Joan introduced very few men to her two children. They sensed, as children instinctively will, something was different about Oscar, her new boyfriend. During the five years of their lives after meeting Oscar, Jason and Emily would learn never to doubt their instincts.
Alcoholism knows no boundaries. Its devastating consequences are equally suffered by addicts and all those around them. In reading Dear Alcohol, may you find the desire to recover and the strength to heal.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Separate Peace exemplifies the effects of post-traumatic stress and the varying roads traveled to reach a common peaceful ground.
Emotional survival is most often fated to healthy, automatic coping mechanisms. In the absence thereof rests the alternative reliance upon practicing learned behaviors. Because malfunction in the former suggests flaws in the latter, born is the vital pre-exercise examination of defaulted patterns.

Toxic Working Environments

Time Served exposes the writer’s opinion that law firms are among the most unhealthy working environments in existence in the United States. As the dark side of human nature would have it, a warped seed was planted long ago into the minds of  some who have since believed they can protect themselves from any wrongdoing. The ego continues to entertain this crooked idea, as is evidenced by the continual testing of boundaries. The seed’s resulting blossom of evil behavior continues to germinate from one generation to the next, evolving naturally along the way. The resulting fly trap was probably never intended to be so harmful, yet it will not be denied its creation and continued practice.
On the brighter side, there is a way out!
